Everything about METEO CONSULT
METEO CONSULT was founded in 1998 by four people: Eric Savant-Ros, a doctor of physics with a degree from MBA HEC; Sophie Savant-Ros, an architect with a degree from MBA HEC; Eric Mas, a meteorological engineer with a degree from the national weather bureau, and Karim BEN GHANEM, a graduate of Télécom Paris with a Masters in Open Information Systems from the Ecole Centrale in Paris and General International Management from the ESSEC business school.
The company has its own specialised computing resources to work out the forecasts. These powerful systems, operated by a team of experienced meteorologists, are linked to supercomputers in the USA and Great Britain, processing the collected data through the observation networks of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).
In April 2000 METEO CONSULT rejoined the PROSODIE group. Its head office is located in Vernouillet.
In June 2006, METEO CONSULT acquired La Chaîne Météo(the weather channel), created in 1995, and became the sole actor operating in the meteorological sector in Europe to control all of the different means of broadcasting its information: telephone, internet, SMS, Minitel, fax and, from then on, television.
In September 2008, the FIGARO group took over the METEO CONSULT group.
METEO CONSULT is the first private and independent weather and meteorological studies bureau in France.
The acquisition of LA CHAINE METEO allows METEO CONSULT to complete its offer with its clients regarding television and, above all, to introduce the information and quality services of an independent actor to a much wider audience.
The purchase of LA CHAINE METEO by METEO CONSULT allows a considerable increase in the audience for the services of this new group.
METEO CONSULT's ambition remains to develop useful services linked to the environment in order to participate in the protection of goods and people, and to extend its broadcast area to EUROPE.
The help and information supplied by METEO CONSULT concern all activities which depend on the climatic conditions. METEO CONSULT's services are personalised and interactive. The company provides forecasts, studies and meteorological monitoring.
Moreover, METEO CONSULT broadcasts local, national and international meteorological forecasts as well as specialised maritime reports and snowfall warnings.
These services are accessible by internet, telephone, SMS, fax and Minitel.
Reports, prepared by the research department, are also broadcast in the written press, on the radio and on the television.
